“Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.” Stephen W. Hawking ( British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge.)

“…and indeed when physicists talk about nothing they usually mean something very different from nothing. They usually mean a quantum vacuum.” John Lennox (Philosopher of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford.)

When physicists refer to nothing creating everything they actually mean a quantum vacuum which is a sea of roiling energy, NOT the absence of anything.  The definition of NOTHING is – “not anything; no single thing.”

Lennox concludes that: “Nonsense remains nonsense even when spoken by world famous scientists.”
